Additional Terk XM4-CLIP Truck/RV XM Satellite Radio Antenna Information

Calling all long-haul truckers and RV drivers — if you're tired of putting up with bad reception and repetitive commercial radio playlists on your cross-country hauls, XM Satellite Radio is just the thing for you. XM offers crystal-clear reception, coast-to-coast coverage, and over 100 channels of cutting-edge radio. To achieve maximum XM signal strength on big rigs and RVs, Terk designed the XM4-CLIP XM Radio antenna to mount on an RV's top or on a truck's air dam, shield, flap, or other flat-panel surface. Install the aluminum antenna base on the flat surface of the mounting area (drilling is required), and bolt the 8-15/16 inch antenna to the base. The rugged, high-impact mast and mounting assembly are designed to withstand road vibration, high winds (up to 100 mph), and icing — the included 30-foot cable connects to any XM tuner. The dark gray polycarbonate antenna may be painted to match your vehicle (use non-metallic paint). Important Note: You must subscribe to XM Radio to receive the satellite radio signal.

What Customers Say About Terk XM4-CLIP Truck/RV XM Satellite Radio Antenna:

What I got was an antenna that ONLY mounts on the air dam (I needed the mirror mount type for now),and as I found out latter, was some old type technology, that requires two antenna (in) ports on your radio. Because I waited too long to exchange this, I am now stuck with a worthless piece of old technology. Since this was my first xm radio purchase, I'm a little green as to the correct antenna to buy. My NEW skydock only axcepts one. Have a Great day. I ordered this because the picture showed a antenna, my fellow truck driver bought that was the right one, the antenna I recived does not look anything like this one, It's not the same. Also a customer review I read said it could be mounted two ways, mirror, or air dam.

It switches easly from truck to truck, and the lead is removable which eliminates the common problem of breakage on some other brands. This antenna is easy to use. The mounting hardware is great for most applications.

I bought this antenna for use on my Kenworth T600 truck. It is perfect for mounting the antenna to the top back area of the air dam or to the side back fairings if you don't have an air dam. The smaller antenna also does not have a long enough cable to reach some of the higher locations on a big rig truck. The Terk XM Antenna works well because it comes with two different types of mounting options. My Kenworth does not have the tubular mirror arms, but the application still works by using a longer nut/bolt combination available from your local hardware store.

If you are willing to drill a hole in the sleeper or cab then there is plenty of cable to run it inside your truck, hide it behind interior walls, and have it run up and out of your dash area to the XM radio. My only small complaint and reason for 4 stars instead of 5.There doesn't seem to be enough cable (even with the longer one that comes with this model over the normal ones) if you plan to attach it to the back of your truck, such as up on the air dam. I first tried mounting it on the mirror arms, but I found many drop-outs on any eastward heading routes since the XM antenna was not high enough on the truck. But without drilling a hole, you have to run it down the back of the sleeper, under the cab and up through any rubber pass-through you can find. Supposedly the CB antennas can interfere with the XM antenna if they are mounted too close, which leaves the top of the truck (on the air dam) as the highest location away from the CB antennas. The smaller antenna that comes with the car accessories kept falling off the truck even if I used velcro and tape.

You almost need to mount it in this location to get it away from your CB antennas. By that point you've wasted most or all of the cable length, which limits where you can position the radio. All in all, great antenna with better overall reception than the run-of-mill XM antennas. (1) You can use the mirror mount to attach it to any round tubular type mirror arm. (2) Your second option is to use the pressure mount hardware to attach the antenna to any other edge on the truck or RV.
